7.2 earthquake hits Vanuatu

Wellington , Apr 3 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter Scale hit South Pacific nation of Vanuatu on Sunday, officials said.

As per the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre the magnitude of the quake was 7.2 on the Richter Scale.

According to USGS website, the earthquake hit 81km north-north-west of Port-Olry in the country at 8:23:53 local time.

No casualty has been reported so far.

After issuing a tsunami warning, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said in a statement: "The tsunami threat has now largely passed."
