At least 132 people died after flood and landslides hit Nepal amid heavy rainfalls, media reports said on Sunday.

Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs said so far 68 people have died due to disaster incidents in Kathmandu Valley, 45 in Bagmati province, 17 in Koshi province and two in Madhes province.

Disaster-related incidents have left 64 people missing in the Himalayan nation.

Sixty-one people were injured in the country amid floods and landslides.

Three thousand six hundred and twenty-six people have been safely rescued throughout the country with the active participation of the security forces, the Ministry was quoted as saying by The Himalayan Times.

The Nepali Army personnel have been mobilised to secure people at high risk.

Several key highways which connect Kathmandu with the rest of the nation remain blocked amid landslides.

Floods and landslides are common in Nepal during the Monsoon season.

Air travel has been disrupted across Nepal due to the ongoing natural disasters.
