Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi experienced Delhi’s public transport system firsthand during his recent visit to India, travelling on the Delhi Metro and sharing his journey in a video posted on LinkedIn and X.

Dressed in a traditional Modi jacket, he took the Blue Line from Delhi Secretariat to Jor Bagh and praised the service as “fast,” “affordable,” and “reliable.”

Metro ride booked through Uber app via ONDC integration

Khosrowshahi also showcased Uber’s integration with India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which now allows users to book metro tickets directly through the Uber app.

In the video, he was seen purchasing a QR-based ticket and entering the station by scanning it at the gate.

He said the feature reflects Uber’s vision of integrating multiple modes of transport into a single platform, making commuting more seamless for users.

'Got a real feel of Delhi pulse,' says Uber CEO

After completing the ride, Khosrowshahi described the experience as a window into everyday mobility in the capital.

“Got a real feel of the Delhi pulse. It was fast. It was affordable. It was reliable. It was absolutely awesome,” he said.

He also noted that Uber’s future extends beyond ride-hailing, highlighting its ambition to bring two-wheelers, autos, buses, and metro systems under one unified mobility platform.

Uber expands transit push in India

Khosrowshahi revealed that more than 10 million metro rides have already been booked via Uber in India, supported by partnerships with public transit systems across five cities.

He said the company aims to scale this public-private mobility model globally.

During his five-day India visit, he also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss investment opportunities, economic growth, and Uber’s expansion plans in the country.
