Tata Power commissions pre-fabricated power distribution centre for Mumbai city

Mumbai, Apr 12 (IBNS) Tata Power, India’s leading integrated power company, announced on Tuesday, that it has commissioned India's first pre-fabricated 33/11 kV Power Distribution Centre (PDC) for its consumers of Mumbai city
Tata Power has designed and developed this PDC in collaboration with ABB
 
The PDC is a pre-fabricated modular enclosure that houses the MV Switchgear, LV switchgear and auxiliary equipment. 
 
According to the company, this engineered solution has been innovated to overcome the major challenges faced in rapidly growing cities and urban areas. Tata Power has been able to reduce the footprint of the 33 /11KV substation by almost 30%, civil cost of construction by 82% as well as the gestation period of establishing the substation by two months.

This newly engineered solution, PDC, not only it combats space crunch issues but also enhances public safety. This will not only be beneficial for our consumers but also for the power industry. We will continue to work on further innovations in technology to ensure uninterrupted services to our consumers.”

The company also highlighted as the PDC is completely inaccessible from outside, its use also enhanced safety for the public.
