Sensex gains 267.64 points as market closes

The BSE Sensex on Wednesday gained further by 267.64 pts at 71,822.83 as buying was witnessed in Oil and Gas, Energy, Metal and Utilities stocks.
 

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 96.80 pts at 21,840.05.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,870.85 and 21,530.20 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened at 71,035.25, sliding 520 pts. It was plunged 746 pts, days low. In late trade, it erased earlier losses, and jumped 383 pts, at 71,938.59, days high before closing at 71,822.83, surging 267.64 pts from its previous close.

The Mid Cap rose 1.26 pc and Small Cap by 1.16 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The gainers were SBI by 4.24 pc to Rs 743.35, Tata Steel by 2.36 pc to Rs 141.15, Axis Bank by 2.32 pc to 1095.95 and Maruti Suzuki by 2.18 pc to Rs 11026.85.

The losers were Tech Mahindra by 2.78 pc to Rs 1292.35,Sun Pharma by 1.26 pc to Rs 1522.50,TCS by 1.16 pc to Rs 4101 and Infosys by 1.10 pc to Rs 1666.
