Sensex drops 48.99 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex remained weak on Tuesday, declined 48.99 points to close at 59,196.99 as selling was seen in IT, Auto and Bankex stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 10.20 points at 17,655.60.

The Sensex opened higher by 41 points at 59,285. It was surged 322 points at 59,566.67, days high, before closing at 59,196.99, down 48.99 points from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,764.65 and 17,587.65 points respectively.

In scrips, Bajaj Finserv was a major loser down by 2.08 per cent to Rs 17,014 followed by M& M by 1.08 per cent to Rs 1304.95, Hind Unilever by 1.07 per cent to Rs 2573 and Bajaj finance by 1.05 per cent to Rs 7120.85.

The gainers were NTPC by 2.56 per cent to Rs 168.40, Bharti Airtel by 2.36 per cent to Rs 758.10, Tata Steel by 1.54 per cent to Rs 108.55 and Reliance Industries by 0.98 per cent to Rs 2595.40.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.47 per cent and Small Cap by 0.10 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 9 advanced, 20 declined and one remained unchanged.
