Sensex breaches 61K level

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday added another gains of 390.02 pts, breaching 61K level at 61,045.74, following gains in Metal, Capital Goods, Industrials and Telecommunications stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 112.05 pts at 18,165.35.

The Sensex rose by 61 pts at 60,716.03 in opening trade. It was surged 455 pts at 61,110.25, days high, before closing at 61,045.74, up 390.02 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices like advanced were Metal by 2.44 pc followed by Capital Goods by 1.46 pc, Industrials by 1.24 pc and Telecommunications by 0.92 pc.

In scrips, Tata Steel was a star gainer, up by 2.43 pc to Rs 122.25, L & T by 2.23 pc to Rs 2262.50, Wipro by 1.89 pc to Rs 403.65, HDFC Bank by 1.88 pc to Rs 1638.80 and HDFC by 1.85 pc to Rs 2689.55.

The losers were Tata motors by 1.44 pc to Rs 408.25, Ultracemco by 1.28 pc to Rs 7279.60, IndusInd Bank by 0.67 pc to Rs 1222 and Nestle India Ltd by 0.53 pc to Rs 19,820.
