SC asks Mallya why his passport should not be impounded
Mumbai, Mar 9 (IBNS) The Supreme Court, which was hearing a plea made by a consortium of banks that Vijay Mallya should not be allowed to leave India, has issued notice to the former UB Group chairman why his passport should not be impounded, according to media reports.
Mallya has to reply to the notice in two weeks.
Government lawyer Mukul Rohatgi informed SC that he has been told by CBI that Mallya has possibly left the country on Mar 2, 2016.
Disgraced liquor baron Vijay Mallya, the former United Breweries (UB) group chairman, is believed to have left India even while the consortium of banks to which his grounded Kingfisher Airlines owe a massive debt were asking the SC on Tuesday to stop him from leaving, according to reports.
