RailYatri plans to expand its IntrCity smart bus fleet to 300 in next 12 months : CEO

Hyderabad/UNI: Online travel start-up RailYatri is planning to expand its ‘ IntrCity ‘ smart bus Fleet to 300 by next 12 months in the country, IntrCity by RailYatri.in CEO Manish Rathi said on Wednesday.

Addressing at a press conference here, Mr Rathi said the brand Intrcity is already operational in 20 cities with a current fleet of 100 smart buses in the country and planning to expand to other cities in the country in the next three years by increasing its fleet to 2,000.

The Company recently had risen over Rs 100 crore in a new funding round led by Nandan Nilekant along with strategic investment by Samsung Venture investment and saw participation from existing investors Omidyar Network and Blume Ventures, he said.

Backed by latest technology, the firm is set to create a multi-modal intercity transportation solution for at least one-million passengers who fail to get their train tickets confirmed in a day, he said.

With its increased fleet, IntrCity could possibly become the largest intercity bus service brand in the country, Mr Rathi said it is currently operational on limited routes in North, West and South India.

“We follow asset-light model and all buses have been taken on lease, he said all buses are equipped with on-board washrooms and have bus captains.

Explaining the safety features of the smart buses, he said all the buses are constantly monitored from a central command centre which tracks and monitors the buses besides there was CCTV cameras, GPs, a state-of the-art AI enabled driver fatigue alert system.

We have launched first IntrCity smart bus state-of the-art boarding lounge in Hyderabad today, he said the lounge has an air-conditioned waiting area and provides full free wi-fi capability along with all necessary basic amenities and such lounges were in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

On average, the daily bus bookings through different online platforms in the country was between 2.5 to 3 lakh passengers and the ticket size was between Rs 800-850, he said.

Our total manpower was 250 including technical and it would be scaled up to 200 plus by next year, Mr Rathi added.
