RailTel profit slips, stock slides 3% despite 20% revenue growth
Mumbai/IBNS: Shares of RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. fell around 3 percent on Friday after the state-run telecom and digital infrastructure company reported a marginal decline in net profit for the first quarter of FY2027, media reports said.
The stock was trading at Rs. 285.95 apiece after the company reported a 0.5 percent year-on-year decline in net profit to Rs. 65.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27).
Financial performance
RailTel reported revenue from operations of Rs. 893.27 crore, marking a 20.09 percent year-on-year increase from Rs. 743.83 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Net profit (PAT) stood at Rs. 65.78 crore, down 0.48 percent from Rs. 66.10 crore a year earlier.
The company's total income rose to Rs. 910 crore, reflecting healthy business growth during the quarter.
Business highlights
RailTel's strong revenue performance was driven by healthy execution across its telecom services, digital infrastructure and project businesses.
The company also maintained a robust order book of Rs. 11,747 crore, providing strong revenue visibility and supporting its growth outlook for the coming quarters.
