PNB collected Rs 645 crore through ATM transaction charges in Fy22

New Delhi: State-run lender Punjab National Bank has earned Rs 645 crore by way of charging customers on ATM transactions during the financial year  2021-22, media reports said.

Revenue earned by PNB from ATM transaction charges stood at Rs 645.67 crore in financial year 2021-22, the bank said in response to an application seeking information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

This was revealed in the bank's response to an RTI application filed by Madhya Pradesh-based Chandrashekhar Gaur, according to a report in the media.

The country's second largest lender als o collected Rs 239.09 crore in the form of penalty imposed on customers who failed to maintain minimum balance or quarterly/monthly average balance in their bank accounts.

The fine was levied on 8,518,953 accounts during FY22.

In 2019-2020, PNB had collected Rs 170 crore by levying fines on customers for not maintaining the  minimum balance or quarterly/monthly average balance in their bank accounts.

As of of March 31, 2022, the bank has a total of 67,637,918 zero balance accounts.

Zero balance accounts in PNB have gone up steadily over last four financial years.
