Kolkata, Jan 8 (IBNS): As part of accelerating its effort to reach out to maximum number of young businesses, NASSCOM's 10,000 Startup Program has inked partnership with the government of West Bengal and the Information Technology and Electronics Department of the government of West Bengal to open its second warehouse in Kolkata.
The ceremony was held in presence of Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Bannerjee along with several government dignitaries, NASSCOM delegates, global CEO's, Industry and Entrepreneur community. The partnership was marked with MoU signing procedure at the launch.

Financially supported by the government of West Bengal, the warehouse will be managed by NASSOCM’s 10,000 Start-ups program.

Aimed to capture the essence of entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of West Bengal, the setup will provide early stage technology start-ups with highly affordable co-working space conveniently located in the centre of the city, thereby establishing Kolkata as an emerging destination of global businesses and start-ups.

On the occasion of launch, R. Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM commented, “West Bengal has been one of the fast growing state economies with a healthy growth rate of close to 8%. With its rich cultural heritage and history of being the breeding grounds of one of India’s largest business houses, the state has always been very supportive for the new businesses with its friendly policy structure. NASSCOM is happy to set-up center of excellence for innovation and entrepreneurship in Kolkata and thank the Government for all their support and cooperation. NASSCOM aims to replicate this initiative in multiple cities going forward and support the start-up eco-system in best possible way.”

Talking about the facets of the Warehouse, Rajat Tandon, Sr. Director, NASSCOM 10,000 Start-ups added, “Our Kolkata Start-up Warehouse is located in the corporate hub of the city – Salt Lake and we are thankful to the Govt. of West Bengal for providing 10,000 Sq feet of space to build it. With room for more than a dozen start-ups, we are hoping that this would evolve into a collaborative center for learning, sharing and development of ideas. The vision of NASSCOM 10,000 start-ups is to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into scalable businesses and with the launch of this warehouse we are confident that more start-ups will evolve from this region.”
