Kolkata: Tech company launches WDS Shield platform to help senior citizens against cyber fraud

Tech startup company Wiz Digital Services is trying to help senior citizens of West Bengal against cyber fraud by launching a platform named WDS Shield.

“We want to simplify it for victims so that they can use the platform easily,” Wiz Digital co-founder Zeeshan Basu told IBNS in Kolkata.

He said the platform was launched to support senior citizens and digitally disadvantaged in drafting complaints, capturing and documenting evidence of a scam, cybercrime or threat of a potential cybercrime in a structured format.

Cyber Security Expert, Advocate Vivek Sharma, said, "Cyber-crime is a massive plague that is destroying years of savings and most importantly, mental peace and financial security that an individual has built up, especially in the senior citizen category."

He warned that certain regions in India have become an 'absolute hotbed' for a parallel black economy of cyber-criminals.

During the event, which was also attended by retired Justice, Soumitra Sen, Wiz Digital Services Shield Cyber Service free WhatsApp helpline number (+91 98314 82638) was also launched in Kolkata on Tuesday.

“The hotline is free of cost and we want to help people with it,” Zeeshan Basu said.
