Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers conferred Navratna status

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd was accorded Navratna status by the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, on Friday, June 19, 2026, signifying a monumental milestone in the shipyard’s journey.

The prestigious recognition has been conferred in acknowledgment of GRSE's consistent financial and operational performance over the years.

The shipyard's financial performance over the past five years reflects a strong growth trajectory and operational excellence. Revenue from Operations increased from ₹1,754 crore in FY 2021-22 to ₹7,002 crore in FY 2025-26, registering a growth of nearly 300 percent. During the same period, Profit After Tax (PAT) rose from ₹190 crore to ₹748 crore, reflecting an increase of nearly 294 percent.

A strong proponent of the Government of India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, GRSE delivered eight warships during FY 2025-26, including three major platforms on a single day—March 30, 2026. These comprised INS Dunagiri, a Project 17A advanced guided-missile frigate; INS Sanshodhak, a Survey Vessel (Large); and INS Agray, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft.

Navratna status grants Central Public Sector Enterprises greater financial and operational autonomy, enabling them to undertake larger investments and accelerate expansion plans.

The elevation comes at a time when GRSE is actively pursuing capacity enhancement through a combination of brownfield and greenfield expansion projects.

Expressing his gratitude to the Government of India, Commodore P.R. Hari, IN (Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE, said: "The conferment of Navratna status is a defining moment in GRSE's journey and a matter of immense pride for every member of the GRSE family. This recognition reflects the confidence reposed in us and acknowledges the dedication, commitment and professionalism of our employees, past and present."

"This elevation will further empower us to pursue strategic opportunities, enhance self-reliance in defence manufacturing, strengthen our global competitiveness, and contribute meaningfully towards the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India's emergence as a leading maritime power by 2047," he added.
