Coal linkages for non-power sector to take the auction route
New Delhi, Feb 3 (IBNS) Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday has decided to grant long-term supply or linkages for coal to non-power sectors such as steel, cement and aluminium through electronic auctions to make it a transparent process while existing agreements will be allowed to lapse as the agreement ends.
Public sector units and urea manufacturers will be able to renews their existing fuel supply agreements (FSAs) but any requirement beyond the FSA quantity will ahve to procured through the auction route, according to media reports.
The Coal Ministry has been drawing up a plan for auction of linkages to the non-power sector through 2015.
