State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a series of customer-centric initiatives and special offers aimed at enhancing user experience, expanding digital services and making advanced connectivity and entertainment more accessible across the country.

Nationwide 4G expansion

BSNL said it has significantly strengthened its mobile network and ordered more than 26,300 additional 4G BTS (Base Transceiver Station) sites for deployment across the country.

The expansion is expected to extend BSNL’s 4G footprint to more towns, villages and remote areas.

The company said its 4G network has also undergone comprehensive optimisation, resulting in improved network quality, wider and more consistent coverage, faster data speeds, better call performance and an enhanced overall customer experience.

BSNL said the network is built on a fully indigenous, 5G-upgradable technology stack.

Independence Day special offers and initiatives

As part of its Independence Day announcements, BSNL has introduced several new offers and services for customers.

1. Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 Offer

BSNL has introduced the Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 Offer, allowing new customers to experience its mobile network for just Re. 1.

Under the offer, customers will receive:

1 GB of data per day
100 SMS per day
Unlimited voice calls
24 days of validity

The offer is aimed at making BSNL’s mobile services more affordable and encouraging new customers to experience its network.

2. BSNL Fibre Freedom Plan at ₹1,111 per month

BSNL has launched its Fibre Freedom Plan at a special introductory price of ₹1,111 per month.

The plan includes:

Internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps

5,000 GB of monthly data

Access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms

Broadband and digital entertainment services through a single connection

BSNL said the initiative is part of its efforts to provide high-speed, affordable and value-driven broadband services.

3. New BSNL Selfcare mobile app

BSNL has revamped its Selfcare mobile application, “BSNL Selfcare New,” for Android and iOS users.

The app brings several customer services together on a single platform, including prepaid recharge, postpaid and landline bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management, payment history, Fibre booking requests and multiple-account management.

It also features an AI chatbot, voice search and access to BSNL Entertainment TV.

4. BSNL Free Entertainment TV

BSNL mobile subscribers can now access around 500 live TV channels through BSNL Free Entertainment TV, powered by Tango TV, at no additional cost through the new BSNL Selfcare app.

The service offers a range of live television channels and on-demand entertainment content, allowing subscribers to access digital entertainment directly on their mobile devices.

5. BSNL Satellite Phone Services

BSNL also provides Global Satellite Phone Service (GSPS) using satellite connectivity, enabling voice communication in areas where conventional terrestrial mobile networks may not be available.

The service is particularly relevant for remote and geographically challenging locations, as well as areas where reliable communication is critical.

BSNL said the service further strengthens its role in providing connectivity across diverse terrains and regions of the country.

6. Additional validity on ₹2,399 annual plan

As part of its Independence Day celebrations, BSNL is offering 47 additional days of validity on its ₹2,399 annual prepaid plan.

This takes the total validity from the standard 365 days to 412 days for a limited period.

Customers will continue to receive the existing benefits of the ₹2,399 plan along with the additional validity, increasing the overall value of the annual recharge.

7. BSNL-Polycab partnership for indigenous telecom manufacturing

BSNL has partnered with Polycab to promote indigenous telecom manufacturing under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

The collaboration will leverage Polycab’s Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) facility, which is designed to manufacture telecom and networking equipment, including cameras, Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) and routers.

The partnership will use a Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, which BSNL said will support the deployment of scalable, cost-effective and future-ready infrastructure while reducing the need for significant upfront investment.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen domestic manufacturing and promote greater self-reliance in India’s telecom equipment ecosystem.
