BHEL bags NTPC order to set up thermal power project in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: State-run engineering firm BHEL has secured the order for setting up the 2x800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II at Lara in Chhattisgarh through International Competitive Bidding, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday.

Revealing further details on the order win, the state-owned company said, “Scope of work includes Design, Engineering, Manufacture, Supply, Construction, Erection, Testing & Commissioning with Civil & Structural works for the EPC Package with Steam Generator capable of Biomass co-firing, Steam Turbine, Generator & Auxiliaries, emission control systems, control and instrumentation, balance of plant packages etc.”

According to the filing, BHEL has to execute Unit-1 within48 months from zero date and Unit-2 within 52 months from zero date.

In a separate exchange filing, NTPC communicated that its board of directors has given its nod to investment approval for setting up of Lara Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (2x800 MW) at Rs 15,529.99 crore.

BHEL bagged the new order days after it secured a Rs 2,242-crore order from NHPC and another worth Rs 4,000 crore from Adani Power subsidiary.

Recently, BHEL won orders amounting to Rs 4,000 crore from an Adani-group subsidiary, Mahan Energen, to supply equipment for power generation to be used in its upcoming 2x800 power project at Bandhaura, Madhya Pradesh.  Additionally, it bagged Rs 2241.86 crore worth order from NHPC Limited, Faridabad, on August 25.
