Bank needs more autonomy: Jaitley

Pune, Jan 3 (IBNS) Union Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the nationalized banks need more autonomy to deal with the problem of NPAs or Non-Performing Assets.

He told reporters in Pune at a bankers' event: "There are unacceptable levels of NPAs in some cases and the banks have to be given a sufficient amount of leeway to deal with commercial issues with a commercial mindset."
