Sensex drops 453.85 pts following weak global cues

The BSE Sensex on Friday tumbled down 453.85 pts to close at 72643.43 following weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 123.30 pts at 22023.35.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,120.90 and 21,931.70 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened on negative note at 72886.77, falling 211 pts. During the day it was tanked nearly 613 pts at 72484, days low, before closing at 72643.43, down 453.85 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that dragged the market were Oil and Gas by 2.24 pc, Energy by 1.95 pc, Auto by 1.74 pc and Capital Goods by 1.25 pc.

The Mid cap slipped 0.51 pc and Small Cap by 0.25 pc.

In 30 scrips, 5 advanced, while 25 declined.

The losers were M & M by 5.01 pc to Rs 1797, Tata Motors by 2.43 pc to Rs 944.30, NTPC by 1.51 pc to Rs 316.10 and HCL Technology by 1.73 pc to Rs 1647.60.

The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 2.10 pc to Rs 1220.35, Bajaj Finance by 1.01 pc to Rs 6456.75 and Bajaj Finserv by 0.37 pc to Rs 1570.05.
