Sensex slumps 801 points on weak global cues

The BSE Sensex on Tuesday dropped 801.67 points to settle at 71,139.90 on weak global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) drops by 215.50 points to 21,522.10.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,813.05 and 21,501.80 points respectively.

Registering massive gains over 1200 pts, the Sensex opened higher at 72,000.20, up 59 pts. It remained days high on the opening figure.

Later, it tanked 866 pts at 71,075.72, days low, before closing at 71,139.90, slumping 801.67 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that dragged the market were Consumer Durable, FMCG, Power and Capital Goods stocks.

The Mid Cap slipped 0.53 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.18 pc.

In 30 scrips, 6 advanced while 24 declined.

The losers were Bajaj Finance by 5.03 pc to Rs 6825, Titan by 3.13 pc to Rs 3744.90, Ultracemco by 3.08 pc to Rs 9958.75 and Bajaj Finserv by 2.76 pc to Rs 1591.80.

The gainers were Tata Motors by 2.84 pc to Rs 864.70, SBI by 0.50 pc to Rs 626 Hind Unilever by 0.47 pc to Rs 2456 and Powergrid by 0.45 pc to Rs 254.95.

The Asian Market was seen weak, as Hang Seng fell by 2.38 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.47 pc and Kospi by 0.07 pc.
