Sensex crashes 1053.10 points, NSE slips to end at 21,238.80

The BSE Sensex on Tuesday tanked 1053.10 pts to settle at 70,370.55 as heavy selling was witnessed in Realty, Metal, Oil and Gas and Financial Services stocks despite positive global cues.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 333 pts at 21,238.80.

The NSE registered days high and low at 21,750.25 and 21,192.60 pts respectively.

A see saw trend was seen during the day, as the Sensex opened higher at 71,868.20, up 445 pts.

During the day it was spurted 616 pts at 72,39.20, days high. Later, it was dropped 1189 pts at 70,234.55, days low, before closing at 70,370.55, sliding 1053.10 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that dragged the market were Realty by 5.46 pc followed by Metal by 3.97 pc, Oil and Gas by 3.96 pc and Financial Services by 2.48 pc.

The Mid Cap fell 2.95 pc and Small Cap by 2.79 pc.

The losers were IndusInd Bank by 6.13 pc to Rs 1440, SBI by 3.99 pc to Rs 606.30, Hind Unilever by 3.82 pc to Rs 2374.95, Axis Bank by 3.41 pc to Rs 1082.50 and HDFC Bank by 3.23 pc to Rs 1430.95.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 3.67 pc to Rs 1374.55, Bharti Airtel by 3.37 pc to Rs 1160.80, ICICI Bank by 1.98 pc to Rs 1028.40 and Powergrid by 0.27 pc to Rs 237.90.
