Indian market witnesses slight improvement, Sensex gains 30.99 pts to close at 71,386.21

The BSE Sensex on Tuesday registered a small gain of 30.99 pts to close at 71,386.21 on the strength of Realty, Power and Auto stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 31.85 pts at 21,544.85.

The NSE was days high and low at 21,724.45 and 21,517.85 pts respectively.

The Sensex opened at 71,770.91, up 415 pts. During the day, it was rallied 680 pts at 72,035.47, days high, before closing at 71,386.21, up 30.99 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that lifted the market were Realty, Power and Auto stocks. Realty by 2.52 pc followed

by Power by 1.10 pc and Auto by 1.02 pc.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.07 pc and Small Cap by 0.37 pc.

In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 down.

The gainers were L& T by 1.71 pc to Rs 3560, Bharti Airtel by 1.50 pc to Rs 1064.90, HCL Technology by 1.49 pc to Rs 1469, Tata Motors by 1.32 pc to Rs 799.50 and Sun Pharma by

1.25 pc to Rs 1321.35

The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 1.03 pc to Rs 2592.20, Asian Paints by 0.90 pc to

Rs 3268.85, Bajaj Finserv by 0.87 pc to Rs 1682 and HDFC Bank by 0.80 pc to Rs 1650.40.
