Mumbai: Confectionery firm The Hershey Company on Tuesday said that it has appointed Luigi Mirri as the General Manager for India, effective from January 1, media reported.

Mirri, currently serving as the General Manager for the Asia-Pacific region, will now have an expanded role that includes overseeing operations in India, the maker of Hershey’s and Reese’s chocolates said in a statement, reported Mint.

Luigi Mirri takes over from Geetika Mehta, who has been appointed as the Managing Director for Nivea India.

In his previous roles, Mirri played a key role in leading the company's expansion in various markets, including Australia, Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Before joining the company five years ago, Mirri was based in India with confectionery company Ferrero, where he held various leadership positions. He said, “I am excited to contribute to the broader transformation goals and growth of our company. India is a key focus for Hershey, bringing moments of goodness to our consumers with fantastic products and our commitment to talent development and leadership building."

"Both India and APAC play crucial roles in shaping our company's future. Our business in India, in particular, is growing, and [it is] a strategically important market for the future. Luigi’s outstanding track record in steering growth for large enterprises, driving profitability and turnarounds will guide his leadership as we continue to tap our desired growth and unlock new potential," said Rohit Grover, president, international, The Hershey Company.

The Hershey Company, based in Hershey, Pennsylvania, boasts a workforce of nearly 20,000 employees globally. With a presence in over 80 countries, the company features more than 100 brands, contributing to an annual revenue exceeding $10.4 billion.
