Sensex drops 342.48 points during opening session

The BSE Sensex on Tuesday dropped 342.48 points to 71,929.46 in the opening session as selling was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 78.15 points to 21,663.75.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 72,332.85 and 71,839.42 points, respectively.

The Nifty recorded intraday highs and lows at 21,755.60 and 21,626.50 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap eased 0.16 pc and the Small Cap by 0.24 pc.

In 30 scrips, 5 advanced while 25 declined.

The losers were Ultracemco by 2.51 pc to Rs 10,198.95, M&M by 1.83 pc to Rs 1672.45, Kotak Bank by 1.22 pc to Rs 1887.55, L & T by 1.20 pc to Rs 3480.55, and Tech Mahindra by 1.13 pc to Rs 1283.45.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 1.60 pc to Rs 1280, Bharti Airtel by 0.74 pc to Rs 1020.50, and Bajaj Finance by 0.37 pc to Rs 7425.65.
