Indian Market touches all-time high, Sensex crosses 72,000-mark

The BSE Sensex on Wednesday ended historic high, touching 72k level for the first time at 72,038.43, surging 701.63 pts tracking global market amid strong buying in Metal, Auto and Bankex stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 213.40 pts at 21,654.75.

The Sensex opened on a strong note, to open at 71, 492.02 rising 156 pts. During the day, it was spurted 783 pts at 72,119.85, days high before closing at 72,038.43, up 701.63 pts from its previous close.

The stocks include Metal, Auto, Commodities and Bankex zoomed today.

Metal advanced by 1.33 pc, Auto by 1.33 pc, Commodities by 1.19 pc and Bankex by 1.09 pc.

The NSE posted days high and low at 21,675.75 and 21,495.80 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap advanced by 0.41 pc and Small Cap by 0.20 pc.

In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 down.

The gainers were Ultracemco by 4.31 pc to Rs 10453, JSW Steel by 3.41 pc to Rs 880.45, Tata Motors by 2.83 pc to Rs 740, Bharti Airtel by 2.03 pc to Rs 1019.70 and SBI by 1.67 pc to Rs 648.60.

The losers were NTPC by 1.13 pc to Rs 306.20 Wipro by 0.26 pc to Rs 468.85 and Tech Mahindra by 0.16 pc to Rs 1279.10.
