Sensex recovers 149.31 pts

Mumbai:  The BSE Sensex on Wednesday recovered 149.31 pts to close at 65,995.81 on the strength of Metal, Consumer Durable, Oil and Gas and Energy stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 61.70 pts at 19,632.55 pts.
The Sensex opened on a weak note at 65,810, fell 36 pts. During the session, it was dropped 402 pts at 65,444.38, days low.

Later, it erased earlier losses and ended positive at 65,995.81, up 149.31 pts from its previous close.

The stocks that lifted the market were Metal by 2.32 pc followed by Consumer Durable by 1.21 pc, Oil and Gas by 1.16 pc and Energy by 1.11 pc.

The Mid Cap Rose by 0.39 pc and Small Cap by 0.57 pc.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The gainers were JSW Steel by 2.68 pc to Rs 822.25, Tata Motors by 2.57 pc to Rs 622.80, M& M 2.35 pc to Rs 1534.85, Tata Steel by 1.74 pc to by 120.15 and ITC by 1.35 pc to by 458.60.

The losers were Bajaj finance by 0.87 pc to Rs 7123.70, Maruti Suzuki by 0.87 pc to Rs 9461.20, ICICI Bank by 0.81 pc to be 972.60 and Powergrid by 0.52 pc to Rs 240.25.
