Reliance acquires soft drink brands Campa, Sosyo from Pure Drink: Report

Mumbai: Reliance Industries has acquired soft drink brands Sosyo and Campa from Pure Drinks, Moneycontrol reported.

The move is part of its FMCG strategy and will help its entry into the soft drinks market ruled by Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

On August 29, Isha Ambani, director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, announced that the retail arm of the company is set to foray into the FMCG segment.

“I am excited to announce that this year, we will launch our fast-moving consumer goods business. The objective of this business is to develop and deliver high quality, affordable products which solve every Indian's daily needs,” said Ambani.

India's FMCG industry is valued at $110 billion where Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Britannia are top players.

Reliance Retail already has presence in the FMCG sector with various private labels which are available in Reliance Smart, Reliance Mart, and its online grocery platform JioMart.

It also owns brands like Yeah!Colas and Snac Tac noodles.

As much as 65 percent of the company’s revenue comes from its private labels, including in the fashion and lifestyle segment.
