Indian market: Sensex down by 150.48 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday slipped 150.48 pts to settle at 53,026.97 as selling was seen in Bankex, Technology and IT stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 51.10 pts at 15,799.10.

The sensex dropped 554 pts at 52,623 in opening trade. During the day it was lost ground by 565 pts at 52,612.68, days low, before closing at 53,026.97, sliding 150.48 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 53,244.84 and 52,612.68 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,861.60 and 15,687.80 respectively.

The sectoral indices like Bankex, Finance, Technology and IT stocks dragged the market today.

In scrips, Hind Unilever was a major loser, tumbling down by Axis Bank by 2.84 pc to Rs 624.05, Bajaj Finserv by 2.23 pc to Rs 11109.90, Wipro by 1.64 pc to Rs 420 and HCL Technology by 1.62 pc to Rs 986.35.

The gainers were NTPC by 2.38 pc to Rs 141.85, Reliance industries by 1.74 pc to Rs 2573.05, Sun Pharma by 1.52 pc to Rs 840.55 and ITC by 0.61 pc to Rs 2173.45.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.70 pc and Small Cap by 0.18 pc.

In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined.
