India Market: Sensex up 383.21 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday added another gain of 383.21 pts, regaining 61K level to close at 61,350.26 following gains in Metal, Materials and Realty stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 143 pts at 18,268.40.

The day opened on a positive note, as the Sensex moved up by 30 pts at 60,997.90. It surged 530 pts to 61,497.71, days high, before closing at 61,350.26, rallied by 383.21 from its previous close.

It dropped 176 pts to 60,791.29, days low.

The sectoral indices like Metal, Materials, Realty and Consumer Durable stocks boosted the market.

In scrips, Tata Steel, Titan, Nestle India, Bajaj finance and Tech Mahindra advanced while selling in IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Hind Unilever and Powergrid restricted from further gains, broker informed.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 61,497.71 and 60,791.29 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 18,310.45 and 18,099.30 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.75 pc and Small Cap by 2.20 pc.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The sectoral indices that gave a strength to the market were Realty by 3.40 pc, Metal by 2.89 pc, Consumer Durable by 2.80 pc and Materials by 2.54 pc.

Japan, South Korean markets, meanwhile, ended higher on Tuesday with the former up 1.77 per cent and the latter 0.9 per cent. Australia's ASX200 added 0.03 per cent but Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.7 per cent.
