Indian Market: Sensex falls 74 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday slipped by 74 pts at 61,690 in early trade on profit booking witnessed by local operators.

The Nifty too was eased by 75.55 pts at 18,401.50.

Though, the Sensex opened a new high, breaching 62K level at 62,156.48, up by 391 pts, it immediately went in red as selling was seen in Materials, Energy, FMCG and Health Care stocks.

At present it was trading at 61,690, down 74 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 62,201.72 and 61,640 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 18,604.45 and 18,400 pts.

The Mid Cap declined by 0.28 pc and Small Cap by 0.08 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced, 18 declined while one was unchanged.

The losers were Health Care by 4.52 pc to Rs 250.60, Ultracemco by 1.55 pc to Rs 7282.81, Powergrid by 1.42 pc to Rs 200.90 and Tata Steel by 1.35 pc to Rs 1392.10.

The gainers were L& T by 2.29 pc to Rs 1829, Hind Unilever by 1.80 pc to Rs 2702, Tech Mahindra by 1.77 pc to Rs 1504.50.
