Indian Market: Sensex up 514 pts, ends above 59,000

Mumbai/UNI: Benchmark indices ended in green territory with Sensex moving 514 points up while Nifty too ended above 17,500 on Tuesday.

At the close, the Sensex was up 514 points or 0.89 per cent at 59,005.27 while Nifty was up 165.10 points or 0.95 per cent at 17, 562.00.

Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, ITC, Tata Steel, HCL Tech were among the top gainers while Maruti, Bajaj Auto, Nestle, HDFC Bank, Power Grid and Axis Bank were among the top losers at BSE.

At Nifty, Maruti, BPCL, Hero Motors, Bajaj Auto, Nestle were among the top losers while JSW Steel, ONGC, Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, ITC were among the top gainers.

All other sectoral indices, barring power and auto, ended in the green. Realty, IT and metal indices went up 2-3 per cent.

BSE midcap index rose 193.61 points or 0.79 percent, while smallcap index was up 38.85 or 0.14 percent.

The Sensex, which opened at 58,630.06 per cent, registered day's high and low at 59,084.51 and 58,232.54 points respectively.

Similarly, the Nifty, which opened at 17,450.50, recorded day's high and low at 17,578.35 and 17,326.10 points respectively.
