Indian market: Sensex down 171.43 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex remained weak for another day on Wednesday as it dropped by 171.43

pts to settle at 38,193.92 as selling was witnessed in Bankex, Finance, Realty and IT stocks amid negative global peers.

The nifty of national stock exchange too fell by 39.35 pts at 11,278 pts.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,298.15 and 11,185.15 pts respectively.

The day opened in red only, as the Sensex tanked by 377 pts at 37,988.56. It plunged nearly 430 pts to 37,935.26, days low, before closing at 38,193.82, sliding by 171.43 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices that drifted lower were Bankex, Finance, Realty and IT however, buying in Energy, Health Care and Metal restricted from further losses, broker informed.

Scrips that dragged the market were SBI, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, ONGC and ITC.

The scrips include Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma and Asian Paints gained today.

The Mid Cap slipped by 0.28 pc and Small Cap by 0.94 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 declined while 12 advanced.
