Indian Market: Sensex up by 187.24 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Extending gains for the fifth consecutive session on Tuesday, the BSE sensex rallied by 187.24 points to 36,674.52 following gains in IT, Finance, Bankex and Technology stocks.

The nifty of national stock exchange too rose by 36 pts to 10,799.65.

Though, a see-saw trend was seen in the market, it kept it's positive trend intact for the fifth day.

The sensex gained by 173 pts to open at 36,660.35. It edged up nearly 236 pts to 36,723.27, days high, before closing at 36,674.52, up by 187.24 pts from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it dropped 216 pts to 36,271.09 the days low.

The sectoral indices like IT, Finance, Bankex and Technology stocks supported the market while selling in Energy, Utilities, Oil and Gas and Power stocks capped from gaining the market.

In scrips, Bajaj Finance was a star gainer, up by 7.79 pc followed by Indus Ind Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys and ICICI Bank boosted the same.

The nifty registered days high and low at 10,8113.89 and 10,689.70 points respectively.

The mid cap rose by 0.58 pc and small cap by 0.57 pc.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while as many declined.
