Indian Market: Sensex surges over 300 pts

Mumbai/UNI:  The BSE Sensex on Wednesday advanced by 328 pts at 30,524.53 in opening trade on positive Asian Market.

The Nifty of national stock exchange too rose by 83 pts to 8,962.45 and registered an intraday high and low at 8,975.50 and 8,875.35 pts, respectively.

The Sensex registered an intraday high and low at 30,524.53 and 30,157.75 pts, respectively.

The mid-cap was up by 0.68 pc and small-cap by 0.41 pc.

The sectoral indices like Telecom, Capital Goods, Utilities, Finance and Power kept the rally intact for another day today.

The gainers were L& T by 2.21 pc to Rs 814.05, HDFC by 1.94 pc to Rs 1570.25, ITC by 1.93 pc to Rs 174, Ultracemco by 1.84 pc to Rs 3502.60 and Tata Steel by 1.60 pc to Rs 276.30.

The losers were HeroMoto Corp by 1.68 pc to Rs 2039.45, Indusind Bank by 0.37 pc to Rs 366.50, HCL Technologies by 0.16 pc to Rs 667.85.

A total of 22 companies including Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, UltraTech Cement, and Jubilant FoodWorks, are scheduled to announce their March quarter earnings today.

Asia stocks were largely higher on Wednesday.

Hang Seng up 75 points, Kospi was up 0.1 per cent and Nikkei was up 0.6 per cent.

In commodities, Brent crude was trading around $34.55 a barrel.
