Maruti Suzuki domestic sales rise 2.4 percent

Mumbai/UNI: Car Major Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday reported a rise of 2.4 percent in domestic sales in the month of December.

The company sold 1,24,375 units in the local market in the last month inculding 1,360 units of Baleno (Glanza) to Toyota Kirloskar Motors.

Company sold 1,21,479 units in the same month a year ago. Overall, the carmaker sold 133,296 (including exports and sales to other OEM) units in the month of December up by 3.9 percent when compared to 128,338 units in the same month last year.

Largely driven by the new launched S-Presso, the carmaker posted a growth of 9.1 percent in passenger cars.

The sale of the passenger cars also include Alto, Wagon R, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Ciaz.

On the other hand, the company posted a growth of 17.7 percent in the Utility vehicle segment. The carmaker sold 23,808 units of S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and Gypsy in the same month.

During the month under review, the company saw a 10.2 per cent rise in exports at 7634 units.
