Nirmala Sitharaman announces measures to boost housing, export sector

New Delhi, Sept 14 (IBNS/UNI): Ahead of the festive season, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced a series of measures to boost the housing and export sector in the country.

At a press conference, the Finance Minister announced a Rs 10,000 crore special window to extend funding to incomplete housing projects.

"The objective is to focus on construction of unfinished units. The special window will provide funding to net-worth positive housing projects (non-NPA and non-NCLT projects) in affordable and middle-income category," the FM said. 

The Minister said there is a clear sign of revival of industrial production.

She said inflation is currently under control.

"Inflation is under control and there is a clear sign of revival of Industrial production," she said addressing a press conference on Saturday.

Nirmala Sitharaman had announced several measures while addressing the press conference twice in recent times.

"Government is focused on exports promotion," she said.

She said that annual mega shopping festivals will be held in order to boost small and medium scale enterprises.

The Union Finance Minister said: "There will be total removal of human interface in tax assessment."
