U.S. service member killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, Oct 5 (IBNS): One U.S. service member assigned to the NATO Resolute Support mission was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday, officials said on Friday.

This incident is under investigation, said RSM in a statement.

"We mourn and honor the sacrifice of our service member,” said Resolute Support and United States Forces – Afghanistan Commanding General Scott Miller.  "We remain committed.”

In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service member killed in action is being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete.  We will share additional information as appropriate, read the statement.
