US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visits North Korea

Pyongyang, July 6 (IBNS):  US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday arrived in North Korea to discuss next steps towards the process of  denuclearization of North Korea.

"@SecPompeo arrives in Pyongyang on Friday morning to discuss the next steps toward denuclearization following @POTUS’ Singapore Summit," US Department of State tweeted.

North Korea’s Vice Chairman Kim Yong Chol met Pompeo after he arrived in the Asian nation.

He welcomed Pompeo to the nation.

On Monday, on Pompeo's visit to North Korea, White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders told media: " To continue the ongoing and important work of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, Secretary Pompeo will be leaving for North Korea on July 5th to meet with the North Korean leader and his team."

June Diplomacy:

US President Donald Trump on June 12 met North Korea leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

It was during this meet that the two leaders had issued commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
