Kabul, Feb 17 (IBNS): At least six police personnel, including a commander,  were killed in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan's northern Balkh province on Sunday, media reports said.

The Taliban reportedly attacked a check-post.

Police spokesman Adil Shah Adil told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed a police post guarding a gas supplying pipeline in the Sar Asyab area of Chamtal district on Saturday night.

Commander Najibullah was killed along with five policemen, he told the Afghanistan-based news agency, adding the assailants also suffered causalities in a two-hour long clash. But he had no exact figures of rebel causalities.

As per the news agency report, the Taliban claimed killing 10 security forces, including two commanders, in the overnight incident.
