Sydney, May 30 (IBNS) An Australian man has been killed while he was fighting against Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria, media reports said.

"Social media accounts belonging to Kurdish military units claim 45-year-old former Australian Defence Force (ADF) soldier Jamie Bright died last week in the northern Raqqa countryside,"  ABC Australia reported.

The death of Jamie Bright has not been officially authenticated.

He appeared in a recent online video.

"The reason I came to Kurdistan is because of the people, their struggle and their fight," Bright was quoted as saying in a video.

"I came to help them in any way I can," he said.
