North Waziristan: Security forces killed a terrorist during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district’s Mir Ali general area on Friday, media reports said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release was quoted as saying by Dawn News: “During the conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists. Resultantly, one terrorist was killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorist.”

The ISPR added the slain militant was “actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens”.

“Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area,” the press release reads.

The recent attack takes place amid a surge in activities of outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) across the nation, ever since the ceasefire ended with the government in November.
