Sahota excited over Brampton University location

Ottawa, Apr 25 (IBNS) – Brampton MP Ruby Sahota today thanked the Ontario government, Brampton city administration, Ryerson University and Sheridan College as the location and funding of the new university in Brampton was announced.

She was speaking at the House of Commons.

“Today is a good day for Brampton,” proclaimed MP Sahota. “Soon to be located in the heart of the city just off Main Street, this new university will rejuvenate the downtown core, support local small businesses and revamp the city’s cultural scene. It will also be situated steps away from the downtown Brampton Transit terminal and the Brampton GO terminal.”

A press release from her office stated that Sahota expressed her excitement that investments made by the federal government, like the Riverwalk and major funding for public transit will work in conjunction with the university to breathe new life into Brampton.

Sahota stated, “I look forward to continue advocating for federal involvement in this project and others because this university will be a game changer.”

The university will be located on the southeast corner of Church Street West and Mill Street North, next to the GO station, in downtown Brampton.

To support up to 2,000 new undergraduate students starting in September 2022, the Ontario government will be contributing $90 million and the City of Brampton has earmarked up to $150 million for this project.
