Larkana:  Activists of Shia Ulema Council, Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto, Sindh Taraqqi-pasand Party and Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan recently demonstrated outside the local press club against spiking inflation and shortage of flour on Friday, media reports said.

Workers of Shia Ulema Council and Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party took out processions in the city which ended up in demonstrations at the press club, reports Dawn News.

The parties’ leaders expressed deep concern over ongoing shortage of flour in the district and said it was not enough to set up a few outlets for the supply of low priced flour to meet the huge demand, the newspaper reported.

They urged the government to tighten the noose round the necks of hoarders who were out to fleece people with both hands by selling flour at exorbitant rates.

It was the need of the hour to fully implement the decision of ensuring availability of flour at controlled rate of Rs65 at all shops, they told the newspaper.

TLP workers led by Sajjad Hussaini also marched on the same roads of the city.

They later arrived at the press club in Jinnahbagh where they held a demonstration.

Local party leaders criticised the government for its failure to provide flour to people at affordable rate and said people had been left at the mercy of hoarders and profiteers, reports Dawn News.

People were still smarting from the trauma of unprecedented rains while the government had snatched even two times meal from them, they said.

Activists of PPP-SB led by the party’s provincial president Zubair Jatoi demonstrated outside the press club and observed hunger strike in protest against unavailability of flour in the district, the newspaper reported.
