Pakistan: Students form shield for Hindus celebrating Holi in Karachi temple

Karachi, Mar 6 (IBNS) In a bid to show solidarity with Hindus in attendance, the National Student’s Federation (NSF) organised the formation of a human shield at the Swami Narayan Temple in Pakistan's Karachi city during a Holi celebration, media reports said on Friday.

"The NSF leveraged social media to spread information about the event, extending e-vitations to others who share their outlook on religious tolerance and wish to participate in the demonstration," Dawn News reported.

General Secretary Karachi of the NSF, Fawwad Hasan, told Dawn News, “When we showed solidarity with Shias at the Imambargah, Dr. Jaipaal Chhabria joined us and stood alongside us so it’s only fair that as a group, we extend the same courtesy to all Hindus in Pakistan who face a lot of prosecution of different kinds."

Hindus across the globe celebrated Holi on Friday.

Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar tweeted: "My Pakistan, love you! Muslim students from a shield around a Hindu temple on Holi in Karachi."
