Pakistan: Power workers participate in rally against price hike, privatisation
Lahore, Pakistan: The All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union participated in rallies all over the country on Wednesday to demand better services for power consumers, media reports said on Friday.
They also demanded welfare of workers.
The participants also opposed proposed privatisation of the power distribution companies and thermal power stations at the behest of the IMF.
Rallies were held at Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Quetta and other major cities, reports Dawn News.
During the protests, the demonstrators were seen carrying banners in support of their demands, raising slogans against privatisation and price hike.
Union secretary general Khurshid Ahmad demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan intervene and check high prices of essential commodities, reports The Dawn.
