Pakistan: Jaffar Express suspended over security reasons, passengers urge govt to ensure safety

The operation of Pakistan's Jaffar Express, which was hijacked by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) earlier this year, has been suspended again due to security concerns, media reports said.

The train did not reach Quetta after Pakistani security officials withheld clearance.

The service, which runs from Peshawar to Quetta, was halted at Jacobabad station after permission to enter Balochistan was denied, reported The Balochistan Post.

Railway officials told the newspaper that passengers were later transported onward by public buses.

Passengers have urged the government to ensure the train operates safely and maintains its schedule.

The Jaffar Express has faced repeated suspensions in recent months due to security threats.

The BLA hijacked the train earlier this year, and in August the service was targeted in two separate attacks.
