Karachi medical student dies after she was caught during exchange of fire between police, robbers

Karachi, Feb 23 (IBNS): A medical student was killed after she was caught in a crossfire between the police and suspected robbers in Pakistan's North Karachi locality, media reports said on Saturday.

According to police, officers were chasing a group of robbers, who were fleeing the area after looting, when they started firing at them at Anda Mor, reported Geo News.

The police retaliated and Nimrah who was passing by from the area was shot in her head during the cross-fire, officials told the Pakistan-based news channel.

She was taken to  Jinnah Hospital for treatment.

She passed away later in the hospital.

Police said she was hit by a bullet fired by the robbers.

A suspected robber identified as Riaz Malik was also killed during the exchange of fire, reports said.
