Kaetyn Osmond becomes first Canadian to win figure skating championship in 45 years

Milan, Mar 24 (IBNS): Kaetlyn Osmond has become the first Canadian to win the figure skating championship in a period of 45 years, media reports said.

Karen Magnussen was the last Canadian woman to win a gold in 1973.

Osmond has won the championship in Milan, Italy on Friday.

She finished with a score of 223.23 overall.

Following the win, Osmond tweeted, "What just happened !! Am I dreaming ?! Did I honestly just win worlds ?!"

She said in follow up tweet, " Just realized yesterday was not a dream! Thank you so much @LanceV72 and @J_Butt for creating two amazing programs that will always have a place in my heart. And thank you @ravi7walia for coaching me through everything! And thank you to so many more people on my team!!"
