Bandung/IBNS: A suicide bombing occurred at a police station in Bandung, the capital city of Indonesia's West Java province, on Wednesday morning, killing the bomber and leaving three policemen injured, police said.

The bomber might have been angered by the new criminal code set in motion, authorities said as per an Reuters report.

The explosion took place at 08:20 am local time at the Astana Anyar sub-district police station and caused damage, Bandung police chief Aswin Sipayung said.

"The bomber came into the police station when the policemen were having a regular ceremony. The bomber pointed a knife at the policemen. Then an explosion happened," he told local media.

Police were carrying out an investigation at the scene, he said.

Jamaah-Ansharut-Daulah, an Islamic-State inspired group, may have been behind this incident, Ibnu Suhendra of Indonesia's counterterrorism agency (BNPT) told Metro TV.

The West Java Police head Suntana informed Metro TV that concerned authorities were investigating a blue motorbike, which they belive belongs to the bomber.

A letter was found with the bike condemning the new Indonesian criminal code, as per a Reuters report.

The letter attacked the criminal code saying it was an infidel product, Suntana said.
