California/IBNS: At least four people were killed as a suspected gunman attacked a group of family and friends who had gathered in a backyard Sunday to watch a football game in US city of Fresno.

Around 8 p.m., authorities received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at a Fresno home, Fresno Police Deputy Chief Michael Reid told reporters during a press briefing covered by CNN affiliate KSEE.

When fire and police crews arrived, they found "three people down" and several suffering gunshot wounds, according to Reid. Officers immediately began CPR on the victims, Reid was quoted as saying by the news channel.

The deceased people were reportedly aged between 25 and 30.

The incident left six people injured.

An investigation into the incident is currently going on.
